La Tusa Show N Shine-March 2nd 2013

Join Devoted Dolls and Raza Rider Magazine at La Tusa Show N Shine this weekend!

Meet The Dolls-"Kitty" Devoted Dolls Secretary

1. What made you decide to become a DD?
The reason I decided to become a Devoted Doll was for a few reasons, they were not like any other Pin Up charity group they truly care more about giving than receiving.
2. What do you enjoy most about belonging to a group like DD?
All the great things they do for the community.. Plus no one in the group is afraid to put in work for whatever charity we are helping and the feeling I get knowing we truly made a difference at the end of the day.
We are more like a class drama free sisterhood  :)
3. How did you choose your "pinup" name?
My name kinda came to me by my 11 year old son..while watching that 70's show he said " mom you remind me of the mom Kitty"  and because she  likes to help everyone and is so sweet :)

4. If you could have lunch with ANY person (fictional, real, alive, deceased, etc) who would it be, and why?
I would have to say my Biological Father, because I really never knew him growing up. He passed away from Liver cancer and we never got the opportunity to sit down and talk...to find out what he was like growing up, what was his fav song or his time in Vietnam. There was so much I wanted to say but never got the chance. I think about him always and am thankful that I have my half brother and sisters in my life and we are close.
5. Which charity is nearest to your heart, and why?
Sojourner Center, a shelter for battered women and chidren.  My heart goes out to all those woman and children who have been or are still going thru this, as my mother went thru this at one point in her life and I too was once in an abusive relationship but thank God we were able to leave when we could.
6. If you had a personal motto, what would it be?
I always tell my children to be who you want to be and always stay true to yourself.
7. Tell us something interesting, funny or special about yourself (hidden talents, special interests, etc)
I love the color Pink and Photography, I am a mother of two wonderful children Gorgeous 16 and Handsome 11 ( my names for them since they were born) I just got my first tattoo dedicated to my children of course. I am a very motherly person and feel like I always have to take care of everyone and make sure they are ok no matter if you’re my best friend or someone I just met.

8. What TV character do you most relate to?
Ummm it’s kind of a mixture between Kitty (that 70's show) and Blaire (Gossip girl) It makes sense to me lol
9. If you were granted 3 wishes what would they be?
For there to be no devil/evil and we would all be happy and free of anything bad and I would still have two wishes teehee
10. Name 3 things you can't live without.
My family because I love them all so, a jacket because Im always cold and my camera never leave home without it..
11. Who is someone that inspires you?
My mom, she is the strongest and unselfish person I know. She has always been there for me and my children anytime day or night when we needed her. I like to say all the good in me is because of her and seeing her over come so many obstacles in her life that could of brought her down. She is everything I want to be...she is my rock and the one I can always count on. I thank God every day for blessing me with such a wonderful mom.
12. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
To read people minds of course, wouldn’t that be so neat, well except if they were saying bad things then that would suck...but still reading people’s minds.

Meet the Dolls-"Lola" Devoted Dolls Co-Founder

1. What made you decide to become a DD? I have been a part of other pin-up groups prior to starting Devoted Dolls with Bindi and just felt slightly out of place. We wanted something more out of it and realized we were going to have to start a group ourselves in order for it to be what we desired, a group that gives back. It is now so much more than we had even imagined in all the right ways for all the right reasons.
2. What do you enjoy most about belonging to a group like DD?  The knowledge that we are helping others and teaching our children to give at the same time. Along with the sincere friendships and family type atmosphere we have built together.
3. How did you choose your "pinup" name? A photographer I worked with MANY years ago gave it to me and it felt right :)

4. If you could have lunch with ANY person (fictional, real, alive, deceased, etc) who would it be, and why? Oh so hard to choose but most likely my Biological father. He was not really in our lives and I just never had enough time to get to know him. He served in Vietnam and I wished I could have heard his stories. From what my other brothers and sisters say he was a great singer but I never heard that. He passed away a few years back from Cancer of the liver and it breaks my heart that he had to be in that kind of pain.
5. Which charity is nearest to your heart, and why? The Arizona Burn Center holds a special place with me because my own little son Gionni had to spend a little over a week there with severe burns to his hands and arms from an accident and they were so amazing to him in every way imaginable from the moment we walked in. Any chance I get to say thank you by raising funds and helping other children and families in our situation I am all for it.
6. If you had a personal motto, what would it be? Where there is a will there is a way. (I believe anything is possible ANYTHING if you want it bad enough you CAN make it happen) For me Devoted Dolls is one of those things I have dreamt of since I was a young girl and now here we are giving in so many wonderful ways.
7. Tell us something interesting, funny or special about yourself (hidden talents, special interests, etc). My favorite color is YELLOW and I refer to everything happy and wonderful in the world as YELLOW. I even walked down the aisle on my wedding day to Cold Play YELLOW (yes I realize it is a song about cancer) But I changed it a wonderful meaning at my wedding :)

8. What TV character do you most relate to? I would say Zoey Dechannel in NEW GIRL. I am quirky, a little naive and always feel the need to make everyone happy and give too much of myself at times. I am too trusting in many ways and yet I don't see that as a problem. I find the yellow in every situation with the occasional grey day but I never stay down long. Sorta all over the place that is me. Her style is also very similar to mine.
9. If you were granted 3 wishes what would they be? World peace (that is my pageant answer but true) but really to be the Best mommy and wife I could possibly be.  Health and Happiness for my family and friends, Continued growing success for Devoted Dolls in that we can reach out and grow to be able to help so many more that need it. (or I could just wish for Good health and happiness for all and no need haha)
10. Name 3 things you can't live without. My family (duh) my friends (who are practically family) my freedom (thanks to our troops past, present and future that make this possible) My freedom allows me to be me and do as I desire such as Devoted Dolls.
11. Who is someone that inspires you? My mother has always been my biggest inspiration. She has been strong through many adversities and has never really allowed us to believe life was bad or that we had little. She is the life of the party and the greatest grandma to exist. She is my greatest fan and put so much of herself into making all my dreams come true even with Devoted Dolls she is there helping us organize things and doing last minute running around on our behalf she even wants to start a Devoted Dames (for the seniors) chapter hahahaha.

12. If you could have one superpower, what would it be? I would love to be invisible (with the ability to control it of course) I love to mess with people and freak em out as well as be sneaky when I desire Good times.

Meet the Dolls-"Bindi" Devoted Dolls Co-Founder

1. What made you decide to become a DD?
Lola and I decided to create Devoted Dolls in order to bring together a group of like-minded women who wanted to give back to their communities and open their hearts to others.  We wanted to show our children that you can give and volunteer and make a positive change in the lives of other people. We didn't want to be just another pinup group; we wanted to be a group known for hard work, dedication and generosity all done with a touch of class and vintage flair!

2. What do you enjoy most about belonging to a group like DD?
I enjoy planning and helping out at events, the sisterhood that exists with all the Dolls and knowing that after all the hard work we put into each and every event, that a rescue, group or an organization is a little better off because of our help.

3. How did you choose your "pinup" name?
My name was an accident, it was something I chose as a MySpace name because of my arm tattoo and it stuck.

4. If you could have lunch with ANY person (fictional, real, alive, deceased, etc) who would it be, and why?
It would be a tie between Elie Wiesel and Gerda Weissmann Klein.  Elie’s book “Night” and Gerda’s book “All But My Life” have had a profound impact on my life.  They are both truly inspirational people.

5. Which charity is nearest to your heart, and why?
There are so many, but I would have to say Madison Street Veterans Organization has touched me the most. The men and women that run and live at the facility are so warm and thankful and do so much to support and uplift each other. It is very inspiring.
madisonstreetveterans.org

6. If you had a personal motto, what would it be?
"Let It Be" I have it tattooed on my wrist so I can look at it when I'm stressed or worried or upset. It reminds me to just let things go and that a higher power has a plan for me.

7. Tell us something interesting, funny or special about yourself (hidden talents, special interests, etc)
Well, I guess I'm a bit of a Renaissance woman because I love doing so many different types of artistic things. I make cakes, I model, I sang a little on Voodoo Swing's CD, I love reading, I paint and I love to dance.  Also, I have a lot of tattoos that total over 75 hours so far.  My left arm is a full sleeve, my right arm is almost half, I have a full back piece and a thigh piece from hip to almost my knee.

8. What TV character do you most relate to?
Hmm, I think I'm equal parts Lucy Ricardo and Lily Munster

9. If you were granted 3 wishes what would they be?
First, I would wish for my nephew to still be with us, healthy and happy. Second, I would wish for every adult, child and animal to have a clean safe place to live and never know hunger. And last, for my children to have a wonderful and blessed life.

10. Name 3 things you can't live without.
My family, my pets and my phone

11. Who is someone that inspires you?
My mom. In the past 2 years she's battled breast cancer, endured the loss of her 3 year old grandson and her aunt who was like a mother to her and dealt with many other personal issues, but she's remained strong and loving and determined to make it through and keep on going strong. She's my mom, my hero and my best friend.

12. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
I would love to be able to fly.
